Monday night’s Seneca Valley School Board meeting got a bit heated as some parents questioned the board about bullying and the district’s efforts to stop it.
“Show now that Seneca Valley will change the future and make it better for all children,” one parent said to the school board, according to our news partners at WPXI-TV who were there.
Monday’s meeting was the first since a lawsuit was filed by parents of a Seneca Valley student claiming a group of girls conspired to falsely accuse their son of sexual assault.
The district is listed as a defendant in the suit, but school board President Jim Nickel said Monday night the board has issues with the complaint.
“We have issues with the complaint, and we feel strongly that the inclusion of the district in the lawsuit is without merit,” Nickel said.
The district issued a statement last week defending itself. Read more here.
The suit claims the boy had to endure multiple court appearances, detention in a juvenile facility and was forced to wear an ankle-monitoring bracelet as a result of false sexual allegations leveled against him. It also claims the Seneca Valley School District was biased in favor of females who accuse males of sexual assault.
