Butler Township residents will be paying more for solid waste and recycling collection next year after the commissioners approved a new contract with a different provider.
After opening a total of three bids received for the five-year contract during a meeting on Monday, the Butler Township board of commissioners approved a deal with Waste Management.
This deal begins Jan. 1 at a cost of $19.65 per month for residents during the 2019 year, and will continue for at least an additional four years with incremental increases each year.
Vogel is the township’s current waste disposal company. Their contract is up at the end of this year, and they currently charge township residents $16.12 per month.
Vogel also put a bid in to continue service in Butler Township but did not offer the lowest rates.
