SRU quarterback Roland Rivers, III earned his second PSAC-West Offensive Player of the Week award this week. Rivers, a junior from Georgia, accounted for 485 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in just three quarters during Saturday’s Homecoming victory over Edinboro. Slippery Rock will visit Clarion Saturday for a noon kick-off.
The Rock are 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC-West. They remain unranked despite being in sole possession of first place in the PSAC-West. Third-place IUP, whom the Rock defeated two weeks ago, remain ranked 23rd, despite two recent losses.
Monday Night Football: Green Bay defeated San Francisco 33-30. After going 1-for-5 on field goals a week ago, Packers kicker Mason Crosby hit a 27-yard field goal to win the game as time expired.

James Conner’s seven rushing touchdowns through six games is tied for the most in Steelers history. Jerome Bettis began the season with seven in 2004 and Franco Harris did so in 1976.
Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Mike Smith has been fired by Tampa Bay. The former Atlanta Falcons head coach was overseeing a defense that has allowed 92 points in the first half of consecutive losses to the Steelers, Bears and Falcons.
Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen has passed away at the age of 65 following a battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Allen was co-founder of Microsoft.
