Monday Night Football: New Orleans defeated Washington 43-19. 39-year old Saints quarterback Drew Brees passed Peyton manning to become the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards. Brees finished the night 26 or 29 for 363 yards and three touchdowns. He has now passed for more than 72,000 yards in his career.
Philadelphia has lost running back Jay Ajayi for the season due to a knee injury.
Two Slippery Rock University football players have received weekly honors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Kicker Jake Chapla was named the Western Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week after kicking three field goals in the win over IUP. Defensive back Kyle Hall was named Defensive Player of the Week after having two interceptions in the game. Chapla has now been honored three times this season, and The Rock has had two honorees in three of the six weeks of the season.
Following their 30-27 victory over IUP last Saturday, The Rock has begun receiving votes in the latest Division-II national poll. IUP has fallen from number two to 23rd in the past two weeks following losses to Cal and The Rock. Slippery Rock will host Edinboro Saturday for their annual Homecoming game at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kick-off is 2pm. Hear the game on The Rock Station at 1:30pm.
West Virginia has moved up to number six nationally, and at 5-0, they are the only remaining undefeated Big-12 conference team.
