The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-1 last night to open a four-game series at Wrigley Field. Jameson Taillon won his 14th game of the season. He allowed one run on five hits over seven innings. Francisco Cervelli hit his 12th home run of the season. Pablo Reyes hit his second.
Chris Archer will start for the Bucs tonight. First pitch is 8:05pm. Pre-game on WISR is 7:40pm.
The Pirates are 79-76 overall.
The Brewers defeated St. Louis 6-4 and have moved to within 1-1/2 games of the Cubs in the NL Central. Colorado has moved to within a half game of the Cardinals for the final Wild Card. The Rockies trail Los Angeles by 1-1/2 game in the NL West.
The American League playoffs are set. The New York Yankees will play the Oakland Athletics in the AL Wild Card game next Wednesday, with the winner moving on to face the top-seeded Boston Red Sox. Cleveland will visit Houston in the other divisional series.
