The Pittsburgh Pirates won their fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon, as they beat the visiting Florida Marlins by a final of 5-1.
Leading the Bucs offensively were Jose Osuna (two hits and two runs), Josh Bell (one hit, two walks, two runs, and one RBI), and Adam Frazier (two hits and one run). Ivan Nova started on the mound for the Pirates, and pitched six innings, and allowed three hits and no runs while striking out nine.
The Pirates also announced on Saturday that outfielder Gregory Polanco will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a bone bruise to his left knee and a shoulder injury during Friday’s game. Polanco hit a career best 23 home runs this season.
The Buccos and Marlins were originally scheduled to play Sunday afternoon, but postponed the game due to rain. The game will be played on October 1st.
