A Beaver County man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged home repair fraud that occurred in Slippery Rock.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the State Police, 48-year-old Dannie Cook of Beaver Falls agreed to perform various home improvement projects for an elderly woman living on Mohawk Trail.
Between 2012 and 2017 the woman wrote 46 checks to Cook for nearly $150,000 for work including replacing a roof, fixing cracks in the foundation, and installing support beams.
The payments were discovered when the victim started suffering issues with her memory and was placed into an assisted living facility. Dannie Cook will face felony charges including theft by deception, deceptive or fraudulent business practices, and home improvement fraud.
