The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Miami Marlins to begin a three-game series at PNC Park tonight. First pitch is 7:05pm. Chris Archer will start tonight for the Bucs. He is 1-2 with the Pirates, with a 5.40 ERA. The Pirates begin the night with a three-game winning streak, and are 69-71 overall.
The Bucs and Marlins play Saturday at 1:05pm. Then again Sunday at 1:35pm before heading to St. Louis.
A first pitch home run by Akron in the bottom of the 10th inning was the deciding factor in the Altoona Curve’s 2-1 loss to the RubberDucks last night in the Eastern League playoffs. The Curve have now lost 10 playoff games in a row at Akron’s Canal Park. Altoona starting pitcher Eduardo Vera did not allow a hit over his first five innings of the game. The series moves to Altoona tonight with the Curve down 2-0 in the series.
