Running back Le’Veon Bell did not show up to practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday as preparations began for their season-opening game against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. The All-Pro back has not yet signed his franchise tender worth $14.5 million.
The Steelers visit the Browns for a 1pm kick-off Sunday.
Josh Dobbs will begin the season as the back-up to Ben Roethlisberger. Rookie Mason Rudolph begins the year as the number three quarterback after the Steelers released veteran back-up Landry Jones.
Former Pitt quarterback Nathan Peterman has been named the starter for the Buffalo Bills as they prepare to open the season against the Baltimore Ravens.
Pitt and Penn State will meet at Heinz Field this Saturday for a prime time game. It may be the final time the long-time rivals meet in Pittsburgh, as no knew games are scheduled after the teams meet in Happy Valley next season. Pitt defeated Albany Saturday to open their season. Penn State went to overtime in order to defeat Appalachian State 45-38.
